Basic Statistics

This course applies basic statistical tools to quantify and understand variation. It is a great refresher or introduction to statistics before taking a Six Sigma Green Belt or other course requiring statistical knowledge.

This computer based course instills an awareness and an expectation that quality can be improved by understanding variation and learning to react to it appropriately. This course applies basic statistical tools to quantify and understand variation. This on-line version is very interactive with quizzes to test understanding. Also, students learn to apply the statistical software package Minitab in a simulated environment.   Minitab is NOT required in order to take this course.  Click here to view and print the brochure.

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Quantify variation, both graphically and analytically.Make comparisons and understand if there is a statistical difference.
  • This will result in making better, data-driven decisions.
  • Understand how to use and apply the statistical software to immediately apply these statistical concepts. Note – The statistical software is NOT required for this course.
  • The statistical skill learned can be applied using most statistical software applications including MINITAB, SigmaXL® and QI MACROS.
